Center Brooklyn Rewers had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team to a 65-51 victory over San Francisco on Friday afternoon at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Rewers, a transfer from Michigan State, hit a career-high three 3-pointers as she helped the Rainbow Wahine (1-2) win their home opener for the first time since the 2019-20 season. She has led UH in scoring all three games this season.

Guard Olivia Davies also made three 3s and finished with 13 points off the bench, and point guard Lily Wahinekapu returned from a one-game absence to post eight points and eight assists for Hawaii. Forward Imani Perez grabbed 10 rebounds and added eight points.

UH held San Francisco to 29.7 percent shooting from the field, including a 2-for-17 showing in the third quarter when the Rainbow Wahine went on a 14-0 run to take command.

Jasmine Gayles led the Dons (1-3) with 16 points, and Debora Dos Santos added 11.

The game was played as part of the four-team, two-day Bank of Hawaii Classic. UH closes the tournament Sunday against Idaho.
