The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team was seeded eighth in the Stanford-led region as the bracket for the NCAA tournament was unveiled Sunday.

The Rainbow Wahine (22-6), who earned the automatic bid as Big West Conference champions for the third straight season, will take on LSU (15-13) in the first round at 2:30 p.m. Hawaii time Friday in Stanford, Calif. The winner advances to face the winner of top-seeded Stanford (24-4) vs. Pepperdine (19-10) on Saturday at 4 p.m. HST.

Texas earned the top overall seed, followed by Stanford, Wisconsin and Louisville.

The Rainbow Wahine — who ended the Big West season at 19-1 after a four-set win at Cal State Northridge on Saturday — are making their 29th straight appearance in the NCAAs, and 40th overall. UH has earned five straight bids under coach Robyn Ah Mow (Hawaii did not play in the delayed spring 2021 NCAA tournament after the Big West canceled the fall 2020 season due to the pandemic).

UH enters the tournament on a 12-match winning streak dating back to Oct. 21.
